An impressive and scarce 19th Century oak and mahogany painted square dial, striking longcase, of 8 day duration by S.Collier, Cheadle (Chesire, Samuel Collier born.1785).

The 14" square painted dial has floral spandrels to the corners, a date aperture and working date wheel behind, an inverted 29 and a half day lunar cycle moon wheel which is fully working, black Roman numerals to the chapter ring and a pair of blued steel hands. The oak and mahogany case has a hood with swan neck and turned roundels, over a pair of square fluted pillars, either side a boxwood inlaid door with brass knob, over a trunk with turned mahogany pillasters on architectural shaped mahogany cross-banded oak door, with brass escutcheon, working lock and key, above a square canted corner base, on a shaped bracket plinth.
