A rare and highly sought after three train musical hour striking and quarter chiming 8 day brass dial oak cased longcase clock by James Roper, Shepton Mallet (Born 1740).
The finely engraved dial has three winding holes silvered chapter ring crown head spandrels and blued steel hands. The slim oak and walnut case has a flat top hood with Greek key moulding above blind fretwork panel, above a pair of walnut pillars with brass capitals and bases, either side the glass door with ring pull handle. The trunk has a fretwork panel above a long door with indented corners, brass escutcheon with working lock and key, over a square base with shaped bracket feet.
