An exceptional Georgian 18th century mahogany cased striking brass dial 8 day longcase clock by Baddely, Albrighton (John Baddely, Tong & Albrighton 1727-1804).

This rare 14" brass round dial longcase has a seconds hand, date hand, minute and hour hands, all in blued steel and original to the clock. The impressive movement has a dead beat escapement and maintaining power. The all mahogany case has a hood wit fretwork pediment over a more intricate fretwork panel, over a pair of turned pillars with brass capitals and bases. The long wavy top trunk door inlaid with boxwood and ebony, has a brass shield shaped escutcheon, working lock and key, with a pair of full length trunk pillars with brass capitals and bases either side. The base has a raised entrant corner panel over a Georgian shaped bracket plinth.
