A tall slim mid 18th century pagoda top oak cased square brass dial striking 8 day longcase clock by R.Stephens, Bridgnorth (Shropshire, Richard Stephens 1730-1780).
The small 10" brass dial with its cast crown and cherub corner spandrels around a narrow chapter ring with maker's detail in script and finely matted centre with a pair of ringed winding holes above an arched top date aperture revealing a working date wheel and blued steel hands. The oak case work has a pagoda top with a pair of brass ball and spire finials over a dentil frieze above a fully opening glass door with integral round pilasters, over a plain trunk with long trunk door with rococo brass escutcheon and working lock and key, above a square base with shaped bracket plinth.
