A superb 18th century mahogany cased striking 30 hour brass dial longcase clock by George Rice, Rudgley (Staffordshire, probably Rugeley).

The small country clock has a polished mahogany case cross-banded with satinwood and ebony banding to the hood door, trunk and trunk door. The flat top hood has a plain frieze over a pair of turned mahogany pillars with Corinthian brass capitals and bases either side a glazed hood door with brass knob. Inside is the 10" square brass dial cast acanthus leaf spandrels around a silvered dial with internal 15 minute markings, enclosing a matted dial centre with silvered seconds chapter ring and a silvered date wheel behind a floral engraved ring aperture. The long trunk door has its original working lock and key and the square base stands on ogee shaped Georgian bracket feet.
