CFA 6299 - 8 Day Longcase Hall (Rumsey)

An 18^th century mahogany cased arch brass dial 8 day striking longcase clock by Thos.Hall, Rumsey (Thomas Hall, Essex Romsey, circa 1788).

The 12" arched brass dial has the makers details in a boss in the arch over cast spandrels around a silvered chapter ting with silvered centre, with scroll engraving, a seconds dial, a half moon date aperture revealing the working silvered date wheel and a pair of shapely brass hands. The dome top all mahogany case has a pair of turned and fluted mahogany pillars with Corinthian brass capitals and bases either side the hood door, with brass knob over a canted corner plain mahogany trunk and a wavy top boxwood strung door, over a square boxwood strung base with shaped bracket feet.
