An exceptional early 18th century country cottage rope wind 30 hour brass dial striking single hand longcase clock by Edwards, Bishops Castle (Edward Edwards, Shropshire 1771-1791).
The small 10" square brass dial has cherub corner spandrels around a raised chapter ring with 15 minute devisions on the inside a plain centre with the makers detail engraved and an original steel hour hand. The very slim plain oak case has a flat top hood over a plain frieze over the glazed door (no pillars) above a long dome top trunk door with brass escutcheon and working lock and key over a plain base with shaped bracket feet.
