An 18th century carved oak cased square brass dial striking 8 day longcase clock by Harper, Salop (Shrewsbury 1790).
The impressive 13" square brass dial has cherub head spandrels around a raised silvered chapter ring with makers details surrounding a matted scroll engraved centre with raised silvered seconds dial above a square chamfered date aperture revealing a silvered working date wheel behind, together with a pair of blued steel hands. The heavily carved case has a flat top hood above a painted shell and scroll frieze over a pair of turned and fluted pillars with brass capitals and bases either side the chip carved hood with brass knob. The trunk has quarter turned and fluted pilasters either side a wavy top mahogany cross-banded trunk door carved with the figure of a knight over a carved base with raised mahogany cross-banded panel standing on a carved plinth.
