An exceptional late 19th century tall slim mahogany musical striking and chiming brass arched dial 8 day longcase clock with rolling moon by Joshua Wilson, London.

The 12" arch brass dial has scroll spandrels around a raised silver chapter ring enclosing a finely matted centre with three winding holes, a raised silvered second's dial and the makers details on a raised cartouche. In the arch is a 29 day moon wheel under a silvered engraved arch. In the bottom right hand corner of the dial is an eight bells/four bells lever selector which determines the hour tune. The superb quality mahogany case has an arched top hood with swan neck pediment and mahogany roundels with an eagle and spire finial over two blind fretwork panels above the pair of turned and fluted pillars with brass Corinthian capitals and bases. These are either side of the glass hood door which has glazed viewing panels on either side. The slim canted and fluted corner trunk has glazed sides and an astragal glazed door with working lock and key enabling you to see the three brass weights and pendulum inside. The raised moulded square base stands on ogee shaped bracket feet.
