A good 18th century oak cased brass arch dial 8 day striking longcase by William Barrow, London.
The 12" arched brass dial has a boss in the arch bearing the makers details which is enclosed by a pair of cast brass spandrels over four corner spandrels enclosing a raised chapter ring around a finely matted centre with raised seconds chapter ring, a pair of raised winding hole circles above a chamfered date aperture with working date wheel behind. The flat top hood has a pair of blind fretwork panels in the arch over a pair of brass capped fluted pillars. The long trunk has a pair of quarter turned fluted pilasters either side a long wavy top cross-banded door with decorative star inlay to the centre. The raised cross-banded panelled base sits on a shaped bracket plinth.
