CFA 6633 - A Regency Rosewood Vanity Box
Here we have a Regency rosewood vanity/jewellery box of exceptional quality, offered in great condition.
The box is fitted with three glass scent bottles with silver plated lids - These are monogrammed with the initials S.K.M or S.R.M? The whole front middle section lifts out to reveal storage space. There is a fitted compartment to the base for storing jewellery; there is a brass peg which once lifted opens this sliding secret floor to the front. A concealed button to the lid opens the leather-bound ruched red velvet plaque in which there is also a mirror set into the opposite side. Removing this plaque will reveal a secret letter compartment behind which would have been used for storing letters, envelopes, papers etc.
The box has brass moulded edges and the top of the box is strung with brass. It is also inlaid with a brass plaque which has been engraved, the initials are S.K.M or S.R.M?
